1. What is Club Administration - 2009/10: This is our second Rotary year at Halifax Northwest with a directorship called Club Administration and it is responsible for (committee/program chairs indicated):

- Weekly Programs – Steve Beaufoy

- Bulletins (Nor'wester) & Health of the Club - Terry Simms

- Public Relations - Don Hunt

- Website - Al Shatford

- Social Events & Fellowship - Steve Beaufoy & others

- Guess Who is Coming to Dinner - Rose Hopkins, Steve Beaufoy

- Meeting Facilities -   Steve Beaufoy (SAA)

2. Progress-to-Date:

- Weekly Program: The Program committee has delivered a very complete series of speakers and programs throughout this Rotary year. The roster is complete now until June 30, 2010 and can be viewed under the Program link on the home page of this website.

- Bulletines and Health of the Club: Terry continues his masterful duties at providing us with a high quality weekly report on the Club's activities via the Nor'wester. He also keeps us all up to speed on the health of the Club.

- Social Events and Fellowship: Under the guidance of Howie, the social events for 2009/10 are well underway. The kick-off event was the Lobster/bbq on July 18th at the home and Diane and Al Shatford. Even though the attendance was lower than usual (30 people vs about 60) and it was raining an excellent time was had by all according to the pictures (on the Club website). After many years of being very gracious hosts, the Shatfords are turning this "responsibility" over to the Caldarozzis. Thank you Diane and Al for your past duties and also thanks to Bonnie and Peter for offering to be the new hosts.
The Guess Who is Coming to Dinner series has been successfully completed for the 2009 calendar year with over $1200 raised for Polio Plus. The dinner series has been initiated for 2010 with events held in Janaury and February. The final dinners for this season will be held on March 26/27 and April 23/24.  If you are interested in participating please contact Steve Beaufoy or Rose Hopkins.
On Wednesday, Sept 16th the Deep Cove bbq was held courtesy of Doug and Stan Havill. Forty-two Rotarians and guests were there for a wonderful afternoon/evening with steaks and salmon cooked by the Denmans and various assistants. See the Website for pictures.
After the Rememberance Day ceremonies at Parade Sguare in Halifax on Nov 11th, a group of Rotarians plus their families and friends gathered to share a pint and some lunch at a local eatery.
The Club's Egg Nog luncheon was held on December 23rd and we had 39 Rotarians and guests. Once again it included the collection of books for young readers which will be donated to Chebucto Elementary School. Many thanks to Jon, Al, Rose and Howie for their personal involvement with making this event a success.

- Website: Over the past two years Al Shatford has devoted a lot of his time and knowledge to the development of an excellent website for the Club http://www.rotaryclubhalifaxnw.org . Now that Al has got all of the hard work done, it is time to identify someone else in the Club to pick up the role as website. Please step forward and volunteer to take on this role for the Club. Al will provide the required training and coaching.

- Meeting facilities:  A greeters table has been organised at the entrance to our weekly meetings. This  provides Club members and guests with a one-stop opportunity to sign in, get their name badges, buy their raffle tickets, sign up for any events that are occuring and to be greeted and hosted by a Club member if they are guests. Please speak to SAA Steve if you would like to provide some assistance.

- Public Relations: Don Hunt has kindly agreed to assume the chair of this committee.

3. Club Administration Goals for 2009/10:

Organize at least five social/fellowship events, with involvement of families/partners. This includes the Guess Who is Coming to Dinner series to be re-initiated in the Fall, 2009.

Organize and promulgate a program of interesting and stimulating presentations for the Club’s weekly meetings.

Establish a Public Relations committee that develops and implements a PR strategy that includes co-operating with the other Rotary Clubs in the Halifax area. The overall intent is to tremendously raise the awareness of the public re the results of the work done by Rotary regionally and internationally.

Continue to advance the development of the Club’s website to a point where it is the principal communications tool between club members and with the public. Achieve a higher level of involvement with the website by all Club members.

Have the Club featured regularly (say at least six times) in the local media.

Continue to issue the high quality weekly communication (The Nor’wester) to each member of the Club and have that document posted on the Club’s website.

Identify and train a replacement for the current website manager prior to the end of the 2009-10 Rotary year.
