A Big Donation
Past Pres. Dick Hodgson announced the Board has approved the most recent donation of $2,000 to Halifax Housing Help, an innovative project which provides unique support and trustee services to disadvantaged persons and assists in the prevention of eviction and cyclical homelessness in HRM. Dick also mentioned "that the club donation was among a number of community contributions supporting this important initiative. None were finer than the
generous time and talent provided by Charlie A'Court the well-known roots and blues musician who raised $4,029.17 for Housing Help, representing the funds he collected during his “Busking 4 Bucks” event. Charlie spent five days busking in three locations—on the Halifax-Dartmouth Ferry, at Grand Parade and in front of the Spring Garden Road Library--in support of the local agency, which had hit a major funding shortfall. The Club salutes Charlie for his very fine effort."
The project is organized by Metro Non-Profit Housing in collaboration with Direction 180.

WHAT A GREAT DAY!
What a great day we had on Monday, October 5, at the Offshore Technology Association of Nova Scotia (OTANS) Golf Tournament! It started out cold and raining but ended up shining. So many thanks to Ergoworks (courtesy of Robyn Litle) for sponsoring the hole and allowing Halifax Northwest to spread the word of Rotary and to raise funds for the PolioPlus Challenge Grant. Volunteers for the day included President Brian, Robyn Litle, Gordon Kyle, Dick Hodgson, Dave Carnell, Stephen Beaufoy and Don Hunt.. In addition to the above, Kevin Smith, World Long Ball Drive Competitor joined us on the 14th teebox and delighted every golfer to an astounding show of speed and accuracy, the likes of which we can only dream of having in our own game! Kevin's clubhead speed reaches an impressive 145 MPH and his longest drive on this hol e has been in excess of 400 yards. In total, we raised approximately $675 towards the PolioPlus
